Big Bonfire (Potato) Festival in Armenia

Celebrated since 2015, the autumn Mec Pur or Big Bonfire Festival celebrates hospitality. Held in Sarukhan village in the Gegharkunik region, local community members prepare a large bonfire, or pur, to commemorate the potato harvest. A variety of more than 50 types of dishes are prepared, many roasted in the bonfire. The festival includes various competitions and games.

The Mec Pur (Big Bonfire) Festival is included in the Association of Armenian Festivals.
