#ArmenianGenocide #VizArmTravel #DarkTravel
Commemorating the massacre of over 1.500.000 #Armenians by the Ottoman Empire from 1915 to 1922, the #Armenian #Genocide Museum is en emotional place even for foreigners presenting photos, documents, publications, books, and some documentaries related to the genocide. Some exhibits represent the stories of those who escaped this #horror and survived. On the hill above a 44m-high spire, #memorial rises next to a circle of 12 basalt slabs leaning over to guard an eternal flame.
The 12 tilted slabs represent the lost provinces of western #Armenia, while the spire, divided into larger and smaller needles, represents Western and Eastern Armenia.
